Oh SMEG yeah! Red Dwarf, the stalwart sci-fi/comedy from the Beeb is coming back (sort of). I’m currently working my way through all the episodes in order (thank goodness for online DVDs) so this news is doubly wonderful for me.
All the original cast has agreed to reprise their roles and will debut in 2009 sometime. Please BBC, don’t screw those of us on this side of the pond; give us some option to view them here (streaming, iTunes, whatever).

Phil Plait, the force behind Bad Astronomy, has accepted the position of President of the JREF Board of Directors, taking over for its namesake James Randi. Randi will continue and chairman of the board.
Good to see that the debunking of the foolish will continue for many years to come (psychics, paranormal communication, and moon hoaxers beware). If you think you actually are a psychic or some such nonesense, prove it and a million bucks are yours.

I am shocked. Pleased, surprised, curious, but shocked.
Delegates meeting at their annual synod voted Tuesday to remove the word “male” from the requirements for church office.
This is a huge step for one of the most conservative Dutch Reformed organizations in the world. I’m absolutely certain this will cause a split in the church, similar to the Anglican Church. Much applause to the synod for dragging the church out of the dark ages and into modern life in acknowledging equality in the ability to lead a congregation.
First alcohol in Zeeland, now female ordination in the CRC, what’s next? One service a week? Less homophobia? Actual wine at communion? I’m taking bets.
